Seven Counties Set to Open the Women’s Renaissance Center in Shelbyville

LOUISVILLE, KY (June 15, 2016) — Seven Counties invites the public to the grand opening of the Women’s Renaissance Center of Shelbyville. The Women’s Renaissance Center is designed to serve pregnant women suffering from opioid use and co-occurring disorders.

Research indicates that babies born affected by opioids and heroin is increasing every year. In a 4-year period, the number of babies born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) almost doubled, from 3.4 births per 1,000 in 2009 to 5.8 births per 1,000 in 2012 – the equivalent to one baby born with NAS every 25 minutes.

The Center, set to open on June 23rd in Shelbyville, will specialize in providing a structured therapeutic environment that encourages, healthy social and emotional development; secure attachment, healthy coping skills, parenting education and treatment for substance use disorder aimed at establishing recovery and delivering a baby free from illicit substances.

Seven Counties recently announced a new national partnership with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation to bring their COR-12™ Medication Assisted Treatment to our region, opening the first clinic of its kind in Bullitt County. The Women’s Renaissance Center will employ some of the same treatment options outlined in COR-12 to promote the unique approach that provides long term wraparound services individualized to the special needs of the mom and her unborn baby to help foster the development of a strong and secure parent-child relationship. Counseling services will be provided by licensed professionals trained in the special needs and issues of pregnant women struggling with the disease of addiction.
