“I want to go to college.”

Young people have dreams! They have goals! They want to contribute to the common good! They want to become successful adults! But there are barriers … so many barriers.
There are socio-economic barriers, racial barriers, mental health barriers, sexual and gender identity barriers, academic barriers. The list goes on and on. Unfortunately due to these and other barriers, young people find themselves in a fight to simply survive.

When we opened TAYLRD one year ago, we had no idea who would walk through the door. We knew our community needed a place for 16-25 year olds to drop in, but we didn’t know the majority of them would be homeless. That’s right-HOMELESS!

Through this innovative program we’ve identified over 500 homeless young adults. And guess what, they don’t want to be homeless. They want to live and thrive and grow into productive adults, the next generation to run our world!

So, what did we do? We expanded our services at TAYLRD to wrap ourselves around these young adults and give them the resources they need to find housing, education, clothing and FOOD!
